(sock) monkeyin around

Between constant house cleaning, fun and relaxing weekends, preparation for Thanksgiving and the Advent season which is just around the corner, we have all been suffering stuffy noses and lingering coughs.  Which means we have had a lot of downtime around the house lately in lieu of playground romps and library visits and things of the sort.  Half of me is going crazy and half of me loves these types of weeks.  Balance is good I guess;)

Coughs and sniffles are gradually improving around here!  I’m really looking forward to this long weekend full of family, friends, good food, and the first Sunday of Advent!  Hopefully I will be able to share some of the little things we will be doing over the next four weeks to help us have a more reflective Advent season that prepares our hearts for the birth of our Savior!

Praying that you all have healthy households and a blessed Thanksgiving.

So it finally happened.

The earth made its big loop around the sun and our beautiful daughter has spent an entire year outside of mama.

6 days old, first mini-shoot

It’s wonderful and painful year, simultaneously.  Holding her, smelling her, nursing her and gazing upon her beauty.  Feeling helpless as she suffers from a runny nose or a tummy ache.  The awesomeness of her first step; the heartbreak of her first fall.  The sweetness of her first “mama”; the frustration of late night cries.

Parenthood is a wild ride that I wouldn’t jump off of for anything in the world.  I am honored to have been allowed to board this roller coaster.:)

The birthday celebration was small and merry here at home, just like I had hoped.  Poor sweet girl woke up with a runny nose and “cling to Mama” attitude (sure signs that we was feeling under the weather).  We still celebrated with a yummy rustic italian lunch and a mama-baked pumpkin cheesecake.  Thank you family and friends who were there to celebrate with us!

I’ve already (kinda) come to peace with the simple fact that no matter how much you love a particular moment in time, it always passes.  The earth continues on it’s circular path around the sun, seasons keep changing and babies grow up.  Before I know it we will be celebrating four years since I gave birth to my first baby.  Wow.

I’m hangin on tight through the loop de loops and throwing my arms up for those sharp downhill plunges- screaming for joy and loving every crazy, scary, awesome moment of this ride.

And the best part?

This is a ride that never ends.

Thankful that I’m a Mama forever,

B

hello?

Is anyone still there?:)

I’ve been missing this place as we have been flying through life this past month.  Between a new weekly bible study group, family readiness group meetings, new friends and several doctors appointments (and infected ears, boo) I just haven’t found a moment to sit down and write up a really good heartfelt post.  Or any short and sweet posts for that matter.  And I hate this because even when I’m not regularly posting, there are the busy and not-so-fun moments, but there are always still the moments.  The ones I live for.

Like our family trip to the local farm for pumpkins and fall fun.

Halloween cuteness.

Or celebrating the one year mark since our sweet baby girl decided to come on out and join us in this big world.

It’s all about finding that balance between living and reflecting on life:)

I miss you blog.  I miss spending that extra moment spent not just living the great moments in life, but re-living them as I write about them here in this special space of ours.  I promise to spend more time here because not only does it help me to remember the awesome moments that fuel me through the not-so-awesome moments, but it reminds me to stop and savor those awesome moments just a little bit more.

There will be a little catching up to come, as well as some looking forward to the great holiday moments to come!
