Cousins

Hi everyone!  Sorry I’ve been so scarce around here lately, as usual, we have been extremely busy.  But fun busy, the cousins are in town!  We have all been shopping, decorating, playing, wrapping and baking around Mom and Dad’s house here lately.  The times when our whole family is together again is such a blessing.  Asher has been loving having big cousin Wesley around to play with and he is so sweet to baby Riley Mae.  Winter here in Texas is tricky…one day its mid 30′s and the boys are struggling to play outside for 10 minutes, and the next day its a beautiful 75 degrees and we are breaking out the summer t shirts and shorts to play in out back.  Before letting them loose out back, Mama always has to step out and evaluate the clothing to be worn for the day’s play:)  Before I share photos, how about a quick Dash update?

He says that they have been staying busy and will continue to straight through Christmas.  Unfortunately, the enemy knows our holidays well and therefore they end up being a time of greater activity and alert for our soldiers.  But as always, Dash is staying positive and enjoying the fast pace.  He says it helps time to pass more quickly.  From the sound of it, they have recieved many packages of Christmas goodies and items to help them stay warm.  He had the opportunity to fly in a helicopter just this past week and he says that the snow covered mountains are quite a beautiful sight.  If any of you have time, I’m sure Dash would love to recieve special Christmas notes/prayers via email.    He gets to come home at the end of January for a two week visit and we are counting down the days until then!  Remember to pray for him and his soldiers especially now, I know that it feels a little more lonely for them all, especially this week.

Now, pictures!  I hope you are all enjoying this exciting week leading up to the celebration of our Saviour’s birth!  Have a blessed Christmas!

Thanksgiving-finally!

Hello everyone!  I know we are already two weeks into Advent, but I haven’t had a chance to post about our great Thanksgiving trip to Detroit yet!  Since we have been back we hit the ground running with FRG and Challenge Club activities, as well as a bout of the stomach flu and cold virus.  And we have even managed to complete a little bit of Christmas shopping.  Asher is the perfect little Christmas Elf:)  Anyways, back to our Thanksgiving trip.  We had so much fun!  We visited Lolo and Lola Ballarta (Asher’s Great Grandparents) as well as Uncle Dominic (Asher’s Great Uncle and Godfather).  Uncle Kyle and his girlfriend Chelsea also came up! (Remember  Chelsea?  I love her!  And so does Asher!)  Although really great snow never fell, we had a few flurries and wet collections on occasion, and most importantly we got to spend lots of quality time with the family.  Thanksgiving dinner was delicious (great job Uncle D!).  During our week stay we got to do all sorts of stuff- visit Aunt Teri’s gravesite, take a trip to Windsor, Canada (Asher’s first international trip!), take a few mini photoshots, and we even got to make a visit to the famous town of Frankenmouth, also known as Michigan’s “little Bavaria”.  Lots of fun shops and German food, yum:)    It was a wonderful trip!  And as always, I took lots of photos (almost 2000 to be exact)!  I recruited Uncle Kyle to shoot some of Asher and I once again, and as always he did a great job.   I did a little mini headshot session for Chelsea, posted here, and of course took some shots of my favourite love birds, also here.   Now for pictures!

We sure missed Dash on our trip, but we got to talk to him on Thanksgiving and he was doing well.  God is protecting him and his fellow soldiers in amazing ways, so much to be thankful for!  I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are now enjoying the excitement and blessings of the season of Advent.
