the habits of toddlers…

This could become an ongoing series!  The age of toddlerhood is filled with firsts.  Cute new words and signs, new likes and dislikes, and as they become their own little person, cute new habits.  Well most of them.  Not all new toddler habits are cute.  Check this one out.

(photo taken on my blackberry while in the car, he does it everywhere!)

This habit, in Mama’s opinion, is just gross.  Ok… it’s a little cute, but seriously… how do you teach a 19 month old to ask for a tissue?  I’m trying, and so far, not much luck.  Guess we just have to stick to habitual handwashing for now…

The weather has been so lovely.  Like always, Asher and I have been spending alot of quiet and peaceful time out back.  As the weather has cooled and November is nearing, you can finally see a few of the first signs of fall here in Central Texas.  Here is what I’m seeing right now.  Stop and take a look around, it’s beautiful.

Tomorrow we are going to Fort Hood to participate in a video teleconference with Dash!  It’s basically like talking via webcam, but the VTC room is set up so that you view each other on life size screens.  I’m looking forward to seeing my Honey, pictures just aren’t the same as seeing his smile spread across his face in the familiar way that makes my heart melt.:)  I’m hoping that Asher will enjoy the experience and not be scared, I’m really not sure what he will think of it!  Updates on Dash coming soon, as of now he just says that all is well!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend…

pumpkin picking

The fun fall tradition of pumpkin picking at the farm took place this past weekend.  We had a fun Saturday at the farm and then spent the evening eating german food, drinking oktoberfest (the beer that is), and listening to polka in the biergarten under the country stars.  As always, we missed you Daddy!

As always, pictures!

where did yall go for this?

he's gonna hate me for this…

But I’m that kind of Mama.  Yep, the kind that takes and proudly displays photos of my little one in his birthday suit.  Tastefully, I might add.  Today was one of those naked days, and many photos were taken.  Due to a potty related accident in which I’ll spare you the details, Asher took a bath in the early afternoon, and he never bothered to put his clothes back on before he went about the rest of his day.  (He already dresses himself, you ask?  Um…well he can put his shoes on without help!  Explains the afternoon attire I suppose).  So anyways, cross a naked day with the first day of owning great new froggy boots and what do you get?  A day of nakey, froggy boot wearin, dancin and laughing fun.

He is really gonna hate me for this someday, isn’t he?

Hi there! I just happened upon your blog today.

Naked baby pictures ROCK. :) My three-year-old daughter has those very same boots, by the way–and she wears them ALL THE TIME. They’re awfully fun boots…too bad they aren’t available in grown-up sizes!

in a knitting mood…

I’m in a knitting mood today.  Maybe its because I finally set up my ravelry account, or because I’ve been working feverishly on Daddy’s afghan.

OR, maybe it’s because I cast on for this hat that I want to make for Asher, but won’t let myself work on anything else until Daddy’s afghan is on it’s way to Afghanistan to keep him warm.  I’m thinking this is the root of my eagerness, because although I am eager to send Daddy some hand-knit love, this hat is so cute!

It’s called Tilde’s Earflap Hat and it’s a project that is part of the “Baby Knits Kit” by Sara Lucas.  I’ll post it once I finish (however long that will be)!

Also new today- frog boots.  Asher spotted them at Target last night and I made the mistake of letting him try them on.  I’m never gonna get them off now…

Hope you are having a great Tuesday:)

a fun saturday

Today I finally got to meet my brother-in-law’s girlfriend Chelsea.  I like her.  No.  I love her. (please don’t be scared of me Chelsea)

Kyle- I don’t know if you thought this all out…you know…introducing me to her and all…but now that I’ve met her, and LOVE her, well, your not allowed to screw this one up.  Capeshe?

I had the honor of shooting a few beautiful photos of them, posted on my photoblog, as well as on the official mamabrit photography website (they have the honor of being the first gallery on the new site!)- and boy, the sky was looking awesome today!  As were the lovers, but aren’t young lovers always?

We had fun eating at Shady Grove down by Zilker Park and playing at the playground for a little bit (yes, Asher got his way again).  Then we had the honor of attending a performance of Mozart’s Requiem at St. Mary’s Cathedral, which Kyle was performing in.  It was amazing.  Fun times.  Chelsea, I hope to see you again soon, it was such a pleasure meeting you!

Uncle Kyle tried his hand behind the camera today (he’s really good!) and took some great photos of Asher and I.  I realized, as the one behind the camera all the time, I hardly have any pictures of myself with my family.  Also, Daddy requested some. :)  Of course Asher could hardly give me the time of day as he was so busy playing, but we took what we could get.  Enjoy Daddy!
