army vs a&m

VS

Yesterday, West Point and A&M met again, this time at Kyle Field in College Station, for the battle of the Corps.  The Aggies came out on top, final score 17-21!  Although I am also a West Point fan, I have to give kudos to my alma mater.  Gig em Ags!  Whoop!  I talked to my dear hubby late last night, and I was so tired that I forgot to rub it in!  This post is for you Honey;)

Although there is fun and friendly rivalry involved, all of these corp members are in it for something entirely different than college football fun, and much bigger than themselves.  At the game over 140 wounded soldiers and their families (all part of Fort Hood’s Wounded Warriors Program) were honored at the game.  It was touching and humbling to see these soldiers who have sustained such serious injuries in their service to America.  There is such a great spirit about this rivalry, it was a great game.

Hope you all are having a relaxing and blessed Sunday!

suprise blessings

Ever have one of those days when God not only blesses you, but completely blows you away?

I just did.

And all I can say is “Wow” and “Praise God!”.

I woke up, like any other ordinary day (overslept, rushing to get out the door), completely unexpecting of anything out of the ordinary.  And then, throughout the course of the day, God opened so many doors of opportunity, all shining a light so bright and beautiful that my heart could only sing and marvel at them.  I recieved spiritual guidance from some amazing women (including you Christine!), and felt an excitement in my heart to serve like I have not felt in quite a while.  I am hoping to become more involved in an organization called Challenge, an apostolate of the Regnum Christi movement.  I would be mentoring young women, who in turn mentor and lead younger girls.  As the day unfolded, multiple opportunities for personal growth, new friendships and service are suddenly sitting before me.  It’s hard to even explain my current feelings of joy, amazement, suprise and awe.  God’s ways are mysterious and awesome.

I hope that you too, are blown away by His amazing works in your life today.

And just for fun…

Asher, talking on the “phone” with his Dada.

(how cute is he?!)

We miss you Daddy!

the first photo shoot

Now, I know that Halloween isn’t for another month, but I just couldn’t resist (consider it a sneak peek of the trick-or-treating cuteness to come)!  What great timing…my long awaited camera and Asher’s long awaited Curious George costume both arrived in the mail, such memorable first photos taken with my new camera.  Asher has a fervent love for Curious George, his first childhood character obsession.  It’s so so cute.  I’ve posted the full (and a little differently edited) series here on my photo blog.

Hope you enjoy the cuteness as much as I do!

happy fall!

Today is the Autumal Equinox of 2008.  Fall is officially here!  Today the sun will spend exactly 12 hours in the sky, rising exactly from the East and setting exactly in the West (well, wikipedia rains on the parade of tradition saying that technically the day is longer, but opinions differ) .  Today is a day of true balance and the start of a refreshing new season.  I hope that all of you feel a little more balanced today, and that you have time to go out and enjoy a cool evening, or take a gander at the beautiful colors that are starting to surface.  We have plans of cooking, baking, pumpkin picking at a local farm, and patiently awaiting the harvest from our little garden…all sorts of Fall fun that will be eventually posted as it is all documented in photos.  Hope you plan some fun for yourself:-)

Happy Fall Everybody!

knitting, gardening, and cooking :)

In the spirit of this beautiful fall weather that has come our way, we have been doing everything outside (not that heat ever really did keep us indoors, but it’s SO much nicer these past few weeks)!  Garden picking, knitting, eating, playing…. it’s been lovely.  Last night we even made a big pot of minestrone soup with herbs and veggies fresh from the garden/farmers market.  Fall’s slow and quiet entrance has already begun to inspire us!  I hope you are all enjoying the fine weather and last summer produce before the lull that comes before fall harvest.   Enjoy cool evenings and comfort foods with your loved ones.

We are missing the cool evenings spent in white rocking chairs on small porches with Daddy:)

Does that Deebo have a sunglass tan like daddy does now? ;)

No Daddy, his tan is, what I’d call full coverage. Due to a lack of keeping clothes on for more than 10 minutes outside (is it heat, desire to swim, I haven’t a clue). Too bad you don’t have the same luxury huh? :)
We love you!
